Smiling Moon Alpacas started in 2009 with two huacaya fiber geldings. It wasn’t long before we knew that more alpacas needed to come and live on the farm. We were a small farm in the hills of rural Allegany County in Friendship, New York . Our first ventures into showing resulted in a 2nd place at the Northeast Alpaca Expo in the Spring of 2010 with a grey juvenile and again in 2011 with a 2nd of 12 for a brown juvenile. We were “hooked” and our ventures into the show ring continued with multiple ribbons since. We were constantly striving to improve our herd, and we saw the results of our efforts with improved quality of our alpaca's fleeces and the quality of our products. Life threw us a curve and in 2025, we found it necessary to find new farms for our alpacas. Although we had to re-home the alpacas, we continue to provide alpaca products, due to a large bank of alpaca fiber from our herd.

Our farm store, Smiling Moon Everything Alpaca has relocated to Cuba and we will continue to provide socks, gloves, blankets, etc, as we have for 16 years, made from alpaca fleeces to our customers. Contact us for further information. We look forward to hearing from you.
